4. ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION:
Mission of the Kapraluv mlyn Scout Environmental Education Centre is to enable first-hand experience of children and youth with the natural world. It is a certified SCENES centre (Scout Centre of Excellence for Nature and Environment). We also foster sustainable lifestyle – Kapraluv mlyn is a model eco-friendly building so the visitors can enjoy first-hand experience with many environmental friendly technologies.
Kapraluv mlyn is great venue for events and seminars thanks to its convenient location in the nature yet close to Brno (15 minutes drive to the railway station in the centre and to the international airport). Kapraluv mlyn offers 60 beds and 4 conference rooms including large hall (120 m2). 3 campgrounds are available in the summer. There is also small community of volunteers (mainly EVS) at Kapraluv mlyn helping with operation of the centre, local conservation work and finding out more about Czech NGOs and their activities.
5. ACTIVITIES DESCRIPTION:
Kapraluv mlyn offers environmental education programmes in Czech and English for schools and youth groups. We are also involved in local conservation work and promotion of eco-friendly buildings. The karst surroundings with caves, underground rivers, canyons and wide variety of habitats turns our programmes into memorable experience.
We are involved in environmental education also at academic level and cooperate with many NGOs in the field. This means we can arrange great know-how exchange experience tailored to a partner’s needs.
6. EXPERIENCES IN EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK:
The reconstruction of Kapraluv mlyn in 2011 and 2012 was supported by EU structural funds. Totalling 1,5 mil. € it was the largest single project in history of Czech scouting.
Kapraluv mlyn is an experienced partner for international cooperation. We have been taking part in Youth in Action (Erasmus plus) projects for several years both as sending and receiving organization. We also got experiences with youth exchanges, international workcamps and seminars focused on international know-how transfer.
Our cooperation is not limited to scout organizations but we prefer them as well as green ones.
7. INTEREST IN FUTURE ERASMUS+ PROJECTS:
– volunteers’ exchanges and youth exchanges,
– know-how transfer seminars, study trips,
– cooperation in development of programmes and teaching aids for environmental education and field studies.
